man utd are champions of europe!

europe celebrations 3

As all the football followers out there know, Manchester United was recently crowned as the latest Champions of Europe, beating Chelsea 6-5 on penalty shoot-outs. The score was locked at 1-1 after 120 minutes of play.

Ronaldo drew first blood for United, before Lampard scored the equalizer right at the end of the first half (DARNN!!! Waiting).

europe goal

Twice Chelsea threatened to take the lead, but both were denied by the woodwork, the first of which was a brilliant curling shot by Drogba. Then Terry had Giggs' goal-bound shot cleared on the goal-line. 4 minutes before the match ended, Drogba was sent-off for slapping Vidic. What ensued in the penalty shoot-out was even more nail-biting for United supporters. With Ronaldo missing his penalty, Terry slipped and sent his penalty onto Van Der Sar's right hand post in what should have been the winning penalty, if scored. Giggs scored his penalty, in his record breaking appearance, just before Van Der Sar became the hero of the night, brilliantly saving Anelka Le Sulk's penalty. Peace Sign

europe penalty save

For the 3rd time in history (1968, 1999, 2008), United are Champions of Europe. 50 years after the Busby Babes perished in the snow of Munich, 40 years after their first European triumph, how appropriate. For Chelsea, well, though luck, see you next season.

Man Utd 1 (Ronaldo)
Chelsea 1 (Lampard)

I just logged into Google Reader today, after soooooooo long! And well, I have 758 posts to read, tags to complete, awards to pick up, and not to mention comments and chat lines I haven't replied to... HUAAARRRGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! At wits end Apologies to those who are involved, directly or indirectly... Not worthy

hello people...

Wow! Feels like I've been away from ezooone@seweng for ages! Sorry peeps, from the moment I handed over the previous notebook to the previous company, until now, getting on the cyberspace hasn't been a peach for me. I really have to settle down, yes REALLY settle down, before I can get a regular sniff on the blogosphere. And yes people, I am still alive...alive and kicking in fact!

The transition of life from KK to KL hasn't been that smooth. I've been here since the 14th, and up until now, my car hasn't arrived yet. Can somebody give me a clue of what's happening in Port Klang! I can't find a house...yet, but most probably soon. I think once I'm rid of both these problems, I can start to get organized, I should be okay. Because from there comes the internet, then the TeeVee, ASTRO, then the fridge, washing machine, iron, bed, and so on... Hehehe...note the order.

Oh yes, for those who had not realize, I'm in KL now. Started working with that certain oil company since 16th. So for those in KL, I'm here!!! I know a few who are here; Syura, Rafiq, Mel, Dan, Edna, Karulann, ummm...summore I guess! Big Grin

The transition into my new job though was smooth sailing. I am more involved in project management, so apparently my experience in my job beforehand helped me a lot. But can't be too sure, I have to be super-flexible, to also accommodate other scopes. Well, I am a 5-day-old employee, much to learn, much to expect.

So I guess my first post after weeks looks quite okay. Still haven't get the hang of it yet. But I'll continue posting, no worries. And to Syura, I know, I haven't collected my awards yet...kijap ahhh... Angel

*Distance makes the hearts grow fonder... Love Struck*

finally!united are champions of england!

premier league logo

It had been a long and remarkable season. The 2007/08 Barclays Premier League was officially over at midnight, Malaysian Time, today. Out of the 20 teams that took the field at 10 outstanding stadias last night, at least 7 sets of supporters were at the edge of their seats, biting their nails, hoping that results went their teams' way. Man Utd and Chelsea were fighting for the trophy, Everton and Aston Villa for a place in Europe, and Fulham, Reading and Birmingham wanted to avoid the drop. And how it did went my team's way! GLORY GLORY!

When Sir Alex Ferguson took over from Ron Atkinson 22 years ago, his main target was to topple the 'Mighty' Liverpool off the top of the record books. Yesterday's capture of the league was the 10th under Fergie's stewardship, and 17th overall for Man United. That is 1 less than the club from the Merseyside, and 1 more after that will ensure Ferguson's place in the record books, again. What was only 7 times England's best before Ferguson's Era, it has now gone up to 17. By the way, Liverpool's last title was in 1990, errr...that was 18 years ago! Rolling on the floor

United started the day needing to win, to make sure of the title, and win by a better margin of goal difference, while Chelsea needed a better result than United, to pip them and bring the trophy back to London. On the day that both teams had to win, United duly obliged Whew when they beat Wigan at the JJB Stadium 2-0, with goals from Ronaldo (a penalty, his 31st this season, equaling Shearer's record for Premier League goals scored in a season), and the veteran, Ryan Giggs, who on the night equaled the number of appearances of another United legend, Sir Bobby Charlton, at 758. Chelsea meanwhile, who lost John Terry early on through a sickening collision with Petr Cech, could only managed a 1-1 draw with Bolton at the Stamford Bridge. Nevertheless, due to United's impending win at Wigan, the result at the Bridge brought no bearing to the outcome of the positions of the top two, enabling United to party! Party

So with open arms, United kept the title at Old Trafford. With the squad they have now, good things are expected in the future. Congratulations to Man Utd. Credit Thumbs Up also has to be given to Chelsea for not giving up the fight, right until the finishing line, and making this an exciting season. Applause

At the foot of the table, Birmingham and Reading joined Derby to the Championship, though both teams scored 4 goals en route to winning their respective games. Danny Murphy scored the all important goal for Fulham at Portsmouth, to ensure their safety and another season in the Premier League.

So there goes another season. It'll be another 3 months before the next. But for United and Chelsea fans, we have the Champions' League Final to look forward to. C'mon United! Stop partying, let's become Europe's best! BELIEVE!

i'm missing something!

no notebook

My last day was last Wednesday, one day before we 'Labourers' celebrated our day. My handover process went without hassle, though it's a bit difficult to explain 'a few' things to my successor. But nevertheless, all went well.

One thing though that I miss so much, at least at the mean time, is the absence of the laptop!!! ARGGGGHHHH!!! Yessss...all this while I have been using my company's laptop...huhuuuu...

Luckily there are a few options at home. My brother is back, so I have 2 notebooks to use. Thank you Abah! Hehehe...

I don't know, but I really feel like praying, hopefully by the time I wake up tomorrow, an amount of money is there for me to buy a new notebook...or better still, there's notebook there by the time I open my eyes!

what is 2+2?

There once was a business owner who was interviewing people for a division manager position. He decided to select the individual that could answer the question "How much is 2+2?"

The engineer pulled out his slide rule and shuffled it back and forth, and finally announced, "It lies between 3.98 and 4.02."

The mathematician said, "In two hours I can demonstrate it equals 4 with the following short proof."

The attorney stated, "In the case of Stevenson vs. the State, 2+2 was declared to be 4."

The trader asked, "Are you buying or selling?"

The accountant looked at the business owner, got out of his chair, went to see if anyone was listening at the door, and pulled the drapes. Then he returned to the business owner, leaned across the desk and said in a low voice, "What would you like it to be?"

Shame on you

another tower collapse!

One day after the KK Freeze, on 21st April 2008, the whole of Sabah came into a standstill when 90% of the state were deprived of the supply of electricity. It should be marked as the 'darkest day' ever in the modern annals of Sabah. But due to the delayed nature of this post, there is no need to elaborate now. However, as we all know, the blame was put on an act of vandalism by errrr...vandals, which caused a transmission tower to collapse. Which made me think, who to blame...the people who sell, or the people who buy. Thinking

Nevertheless, what happened after the incident were the things that should bring the attention to the people now. First was the tragedy when 1 TNB worker died and 4 seriously injured after the temporary tower built in place of the original tower collapsed. It happened when the cables which were supporting the tower failed, causing it to lose its strength and collapse. Pity the fellow, came all the way to Sabah to meet his death.

The second incident was, well this is a shocker. Another transmission tower collapsed! I knew about it this morning when Abah called me all the way from Shah Alam about another tower which had failed near the UiTM Campus in Menggatal. Of course, the most apparent reason is another act of vandalism. So it was relieving to hear SESB MD, Ir. Baharin Din saying that currently, a thorough inspection of all towers, covering 700 km of transmission lines throughout Sabah is currently underway. He also mentioned that the people who are in the the scrap metal or recycling business will also be scrutinized.

But I suggest an independant commission should be formed to investigate these seperate but similar incidents. Don't you think that it was too easy to come up with a conclusion without even investigating thoroughly first? I have always had a hunch in my guts since the 1st tower collapsed that there are more to it than just mere vandalism. Other aspects such as the stability of the foundation, earth movements, design, quality of the material, et cetera et cetera et cetera should also be reckoned. The manner of the handover from contractors to the client (in this case, SESB) should also be investigated. Maybe from here we can get at least the simplest of clues on how the real situation is. Manggis just told me that another tower had also collapsed in Pahang. Isn't it too apparent that 3 towers fell in 2 states, in 9 days? Something really has to be done, because there are hundreds, probably thousands of towers scattered in the country, with many innocent lives hanging on them. I work on towers too, I know! Praying And so are Manggis and her hubby, so we know!
