we're off to moscow! (man utd 1 barcelona 0)

"Follow, follow, follow...United are going to Moscow!"

Yessssss!!! Man Utd have qualified to the Final of this season's UEFA Champions' League on a single goal aggregate. A Scholes' peach of a goal in the 14th minute settled matters, though it was far from over during the remaining 76 minutes after the goal. But United stood firm, and a majestic performances by the defence marshalled by Rio Ferdinand ensured the stars of Barca were kept at bay. Credit to the fans too, who abide the pleas from the club and made the atmosphere electric! United also had their chances to kill off the game, but it was Barcelona who had the chunk of the possession (58% to United's 42%).

Nevertheless, it was the ginger-haired midfielder's long range goal that counts. Zambrotta made a mistake at the edge of the penalty area by passing the ball straight to Scholes, and a few steps later, he struck a sweet, swerving strike that was always going away from Barca's goalkeeper, Victor Valdes, to send Old Trafford into ruptures. How fitting it was, for his goal was the one that would bring United through to the final, 9 years after he missed the epic '99 final, due to suspension.

United's win also ensured that we will have an all-English final this season, with Chelsea and Liverpool to slug it out in tonight's 2nd Semi Final. Can we win in Moscow? BELIEVE! That is the one word that will bring a whole new hope and meaning for the team.

My previous post mentioned that hopefully a positive outcome from this match will bring the momentum to finish off the league. We certainly believe so! C'mon United!

Man Utd 1 (Scholes 14)
Barcelona 0
Man Utd win on agg. 1-0
