change of plans!

Due to my unsuccessful plan to actually set foot to Australia, now I have to make do with the amount of income that I am getting, rather than going ahead with my original intention to migrate. Worried Errr...unless if I can find a better job, with a much larger company, the outlook, it seems, not good! Not good at all! With a thousand zillion things and places that I plan to do and have and go, I think I need more! Okay I need to plan something here!

Short term plans. Maybe I should turn to ecommerce software. There are lots of unused things in my room, but I can assure you they are still in good condition. Maybe I should catalog them and get involved seriously in business on the net. Hmmm... Thinking

I can't think of anything as the long term plan though, so probably I have to think harder...so that I can upgrade my life! HAH! Time out

SDC logo

Thanks to Murphy, I finally found the SDC logo on the net. I know most of you have seen it in the newspapers, news, buntings, banners, but I don't care, I still want to post it here! Winking

sdc

The shape of Mt. Kinabalu is a perfect symbol as a primary icon of Sabah. According to Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman when launching the logo, "The strength of the mountain represents solid growth as its far-reaching peak alludes to the greater heights of social and economic growth that will be the outcome of the corridor"

The four layers reflect the 4 main economic drivers for SDC; agriculture, manufacturing, tourism and logistics.

The intepretation of the colours is as the following:

  • Yellow/Gold - Wealth creation
  • Turqoise - Sabah's rich marine life and 1,440 km long coastline
  • Green - To signify Sabah's biodiversity, rich natural resources and green manufacturing
  • Red - The heart of the people of Sabah and the integral part they will play to realise the vision of SDC
  • The white space between each segment represents the 2 sub-regions of the Corridor
  • The navy blue of Sabah Development Corridor letters means that the SDC will carry out its mission in accordance with the principles of good governance.

SDC - main aims

According to the SDC Official Website, 3 key principles have been lined up which will become the guideline for SDC.

  • A balanced economic growth would be achieved through reduction of poverty and disparity of income as well a increasing employment opportunity. Gross Domestic Product (GDP) will be up to RM63 billion, annual per capita income will hit RM14,800.
  • To ensure that while economic growth was being prioritise, it would not supersedes environmental issues.
  • The sectors targeted for the capturing of higher value-added activities are the manufacturing, tourism and agriculture.

While the SDC will be based on the 5 aspects.

  • To make Sabah the gateway for trade, investment and tourism in the region.
  • To transform the state into a harmonious and prosperous state regardless of race or religion.
  • To make the state more technology-savvy to ensure a better quality of life.
  • To provide job opportunities in the state. According to reports, through SDC 900,000 jobs will be made available.
  • To make Sabah a comfortable state to live in with good quality of life accentuated with diverse cultures, heritage and environment. This will transform Sabah into 5 of the most livable places in Asia.

australia? NOT!!!

For those of you who have been following ezooone@seweng, you know from my previous posts that I was supposed to go to Australia in February. Well, the plan has been cancelled. That means I am NOT going to Australia. Crying Apparently, there was a technical problem on the financial side so I was not able to come up with the adequate funds to finance my expenses there.

So, here I am, staying in the beautiful City of KK, with my beautiful friends. Heheheh... Big Grin Maybe it's a blessing in disguise. Maybe there's something good in store for me. Yeahhhh!!! Carol, don't forget our mini gathering during the holidays ah! And no, I'm still not participating in the upcoming elections. Talk to the hand

P/s: That means no vacancy in my company also. Refer my previous post here. Well, it's cancelled! Heheh...

Sabah Development Corridor (SDC)

Finally, the eagerly awaited and much anticipated Sabah Development Corridor was launched at the Sepanggar Container Port by our Prime Minister, YAB Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi today. Aside from the 'partially' working website (I can't even find the SDC logo okay!), the overview looks promising.

The SDC is a blueprint for the development of Sabah, a brainchild of the Prime Minister, which is very much similar to the recently launched Iskandar Development Region (IDR), Northern Corridor Economic Region (NCER), and the East Coast Economic Region (ECER). The program, or rather the initiative will span from 2007, up till 2025, 18 years. It encompasses every possible aspects; agriculture, tourism, transport, logistics, infrastructure, education, human capital, environment, industries and manufacturing.

Another political gimmick? Well, with the polls so near, who can avoid thinking that this is another tactic to get the votes. But, if the SDC is really well planned and well implemented, then the people of Sabah is sure to have an exciting future ahead.

The mindsets of some people though have to change first before we start to plan for such mega-ideas. The bloody politicians have to think of the people, before thinking about their already bulging pockets. We cannot have projects which take years to finish anymore. We do not have to import expertise from outside to develop the state. Who needs WCT, or Global Upline? Is there no contractors worth mentioning that comes from Sabah? Eradicate the illegal immigrants' (PATI) problem once and for all. Upgrade the public transport system. Give the people good basic infrastructures and necessities; roads, buildings, public toilets, etc.

Unless these so-called petty but 'so serious' issues are settled, then we can carry on dreaming about a better Sabah, even earlier than 2025. There are many other issues which I have not mentioned, but it will be a waste of my blog space if I mention them!

As I said, exciting days are here for the people. But if everybody is still with the same outlook, it will be a 'mega-failure' for SDC.

I'll be updating ezooone@seweng with the latest from SDC. Watch this space!

P/s: To the webmasters, please visit the IDR and NCER sites okay! Jangan bikin malu! First impression is important! Stop whining about how we are being left out by Federal lah, itu lah, ini lah...everything is up to us!

i'm back...

Finally!

After the 'alleged' self-imposed exile from ezooone@seweng, I'm back. Well, it was not that I was entirely away, I still had important posts to dedicate those who have left us. But I don't think there were any meaningful posts from these few days. And of course, some of those paid posts! Big Grin

So here I am again, jovial and hyper as ever...enjoy! Oh yeah, while I was gone, Estranged won Juara Lagu! CONGRATS!!! YEAY! Applause

Suharto dies...

Finally, Bapak Suharto, the 2nd President of Indonesia, succumbed to his illness on the 27th of January 2008. Bapak Suharto was also the country's Army General before he became President. Tan Sri Megat Junid Megat Ayub

Innalillah...

megat junid

Tan Sri Megat Junid Megat Ayub passed away at 6.25 this morning at the Pantai Medical Center, Bangsar after succumbing to his long battle with cancer. Megat Junid's illustrious, sometimes controversial political career began in 1975 and ended in 1999 when he was beaten by a PAS candidate in the then General Election. In 2004, he had undergone surgery for prostate cancer, but the cancer recurred in 2006 and spread to his liver, lung and bones.

May his soul rest in peace.

Al-Fatihah

i love you...

I got this from an email from a friend.

GEORGE CARLIN (His wife recently died...)

Isn't it amazing that George Carlin - comedian of the 70's and 80's - could write something so very eloquent...and so very appropriate.

A Message by George Carlin:

The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways , but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.

We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom.

We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.

We've learned how to make a living, but not a life. We've added years to life not life to years. We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer space but not inner space. We've done larger things, but not better things.

We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul. We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice. We write more, but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less. We've learned to rush, but not to wait. We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less.

These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small character, steep profits and shallow relationships. These are the days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes. These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill. It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stockroom. A time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to share this insight, or to just hit delete...

Remember, spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever.

Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side.

Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn't cost a cent.

Remember, to say, 'I love you' to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you.

Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again.

Give time to love, give time to speak! And give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

George Carlin

Heath Ledger...

246491

Heath Ledger is dead? Today, my usual morning was rocked by the death of Heath Ledger. I remember him vividly through the movies 10 Things I Hate About You, The Patriot, A Knight's Tale and Brokeback Mountain. No cause of death is determined, but apparently it was suicide or accidental OD, because sleeping pills were found next to him. It is quite surprising because I have never heard of him being in the news for wrong or depressing reasons. There were some isolated cases, especially with the journalists, but other than that, I don't think so.

Nonetheless, Hollywood is deprived of another very talented actor. What a waste. Details here...

wondering and pondering...

Ever wondered what will happen to us when we are old? Well, I sometimes think a lot about it. It's quite scary if you do not plan for it during your youth (errr...I'm still considered quite young by the way...hehehe...). Your action today might determine your fate when you are old. You won't know what is in store for you in the future.

For those of you who are still pondering, and wondering, you might want to visit Bettercaring. What is Bettercaring? Bettercaring is a UK-based care homes search engine. With Bettercaring you will be able to find available care homes throughout the United Kingdom within 1 mile to 100 miles, depending on your place of stay. Sigh, I wish they have this in Malaysia!

However, Bettercaring also provides information on personal and social care, which can prove useful for us in planning for our future needs. It helps you to understand the various choices available in the care system. The care options come in 3 categories;

  • Care at home, where support and help is available while you still remain at your own home,
  • Residential care, which advices you about the residential care services that you will be bound to get, and
  • Finance, where all matters concerning your financial needs in your golden years.

So ladies, and gentlemen, let us start now. Bettercaring might not show the available care centres in Malaysia, but at least we can prepare adequately for our future lives.

Haven't I told you?! Darn, how could I forget? Errr...it was his birthday last Thursday (17th January 2008). I remembered I wanted to post about it on that day itself, but errr...apparently I forgot. Nothing much...we celebrated by having a buffet dinner in Hyatt. So, a very Happy Birthday to you Abah. ** years old eh! In exactly 4-week's time (from 17/01), it's your turn Ami!

hahaha!

Last night Sweet and I saw something funny in our beloved City of Kota Kinabalu. The intersection near Center Point, and Sinsuran, and Jalan Dua Puluh, was being resurfaced, on a Saturday night, causing unnecessary traffic jam at the traffic light. Hmmm...Sabah has soooooooo much money, that they are now pouring them to resurface good roads, rather than finishing up the incomplete ones at Jalan Lintas, the old Tuaran Road, the '3rd' flyover, and the so many other bad roads around the state. Sigh Really enhanced my point of 'there-is-no-need-of-an-election-things-will-stay-the-same' stance, Carol. Stupid politicians! All of you are driving Ninja Kings, Prados and Cygnuses, you can't even know that the road is full of potholes! You guys are the laughing stock of the world! Rolling on the floor

i saw it! it's alive! it's huge!

cloverfield

Cloverfield? Hmmm...no comments...go watch it yourself lah! It's a movie produced by J. J. Abrams (he also directs Lost and Alias by the way), and directed by Matt Reeves (involved in Felicity). I sure do hear people grumbling at the end of the movie (and that includes my Sweet Monkey). But I do think the Statue of Liberty's decapitated head flying above Manhattan looked real wicked! Other than that.....I want good movies here in KK!!!! Sigh

i lost my ATM card!!!

I was hoping to withdraw some amount of money this afternoon after the Friday Prayers, when I realized...the ATM card was no where near me!!! Refusing to give up, I went all the way back home, looked for it everywhere, but to no avail. It took me a while, before finally I managed to gobble up everything, digest it in my mind and accept that I'd lost it...I LOST IT!!!!! AAARRRGGGHHH!!! At wits end

I hate it...it means only one thing, you HAVE to replace it. Or else you will be 'pokai' for the weekends! And replacing it means to go back to the bank, look for A parking space (notice that HUGE, BOLD CAPITAL 'A'), then had to wait for your turn in the bank, and when it's FINALLY your turn, you have to fill up some forms, change the PIN number, register for your online banking back again... Sigh And all my grumbles were proven correct, I had to look 30 minutes for A parking space, 30 minutes to wait for my turn in the bank, 20 minutes to settle everything. What's left to do is to change the PIN number and reregister for the online banking... Waste of time!!! So angry now!!! Angry

i need money...more and more money!

Since I am leaving for the overseas, I believe my budget has to be tightened a bit. The fact that I am going there using on our own (our = my family and I... Crying), without any subsidies from the Government, made things harder. So I need extra income!!! I am glad that I got hooked up on blogging after being influenced by some of the few blogs I used to stalk! Tongue

Now I also found a way get extra income which is to blog for money through blog advertising. This is where Smorty comes into the picture. All you have to do is register your profile and your blog in Smorty, and wait for the approval. Once your blog has been reviewed, and approved, then your job is to post your unique, interesting opinion on the advertisers' campaigns which are available daily. Your posts are then reviewed, approved, then voila! Payment will come to you on a weekly basis.

Hmmm...cool eh! I'd better start now, have to bulge my bank account. Besides finishing my Masters, I'm also getting married! So I need money...more and more money! CIAO! Winking

Atonement..

atonement

The winner for this year's Best Motion Picture - Drama Award in the recent Golden Globe, Atonement, is another example of a very, very good movie missed by movie-lovers here in KK. My friend, Candice recently SMSed me from KL (she's in KL for work purposes) asking whether the movie's out in KK or not, and I duly, sadly, answered no. Why are we being treated this way? Crying Don't we deserve something better than what we have now? We have 3 good (if not the best, but good enough!) cinemas, or cineplexes here in the City of Kota Kinabalu; Cathay Cineplex, GSC Kota Kinabalu, and Growball Cinemax.

Anyway, when you look at the nominees for the Best Motion Picture, it is even more frustrating that out of 7, only 1 is shown here, in only 1 cinema, American Gangster, in Growball. The others are already out in the US I suppose. Some will probably be shown in KL, but I really doubt that they will be shown here, in KK, except if you purchase the pirated DVDs!

Here is the full list of the nominees:

Out of the 7, American Gangster, Atonement, The Great Debaters and There Will Be Blood are the movies that I have waiting the most. There are others as well, which I have missed, and will probably miss. Huwaaaa...SOB SOB SOB! Crying

I don't know how the policies of getting the good movies shown here, but I believe there are others out there who are like me, craving for them...Am I right? Why can it be shown in West Malaysia, but never here in the East, or at the very least, our beloved City of Kota Kinabalu...hmmm...Guess we will have to depend on the pirated DVDs lah...Sigh

65th Golden Globe Awards Winners

Due to the ongoing writers' strike in the States, 2008 Golden Globe Awards was not shown in the telly. Instead the winners' were announced without the main event, on January 13th. God knows what the strike is all about. The only thing I know is that it deprives me of the weekly nourishment of Heroes!!! Angry Buck up people!!! We, the viewers are the ones who are being victimized here!

Anyway, the award goes to...

aku dan dirimu

I first heard this song while hopping into Kechik's blog. "Kechik, who sees things by tilting her head 45 degrees to the left". Hmmm...nice song! And Bunga Cinta Lestari...she's sooooooo hot!

Aku dan Dirimu
Ari Lasso & Bunga Cinta Lestari

Tiba saatnya kita saling bicara
Tentang perasaan yang kian menyiksa
Tentang rindu yang menggebu
Tentang cinta yang tak terungkap

Sudah terlalu lama kita berdiam
Tenggelam dalam gelisah yang tak teredam
Memenuhi mimpi-mimpimu malam kita

Duhai cintaku, sayangku, lepaskanlah
Perasaanmu, rindumu, seluruh cintamu
Dan kini hanya ada aku dan dirimu
Sesaat di keabadian

Jika sang waktu kita hentikan
Dan segala mimpi-mimpi jadi kenyataan
Meleburkan semua batas
Antara kau dan aku, kita

australia?

map-of-australia

Finally I've decided to call it a day and made one of the biggest decisions (yet!) in my life. Remember my IELTS test? Remember my ramblings about quitting my current job and move on? Well, at that time I have not yet decided whether I want to further my studies or not... So the 'should I, should I not' game went on until recently, when I myself was very sure about the decision that I was going to make.

If everything goes well, I'll be leaving for Australia in February (tentatively, in the 3rd week of February) to do my Masters in Engineering in the Queensland University of Technology (QUT). It was not an easy decision to make, considering that this will be my first time leaving the country for a long period, and leaving behind everything that I cherish, albeit for a while.

Although it's a '10 months only' course, but I hope more is yet to come during my time there, because I intend to build up a career there. But that of course, always depends on how life there tastes like. I have few friends working in Australia, so I might want to ask their opinion first.

So there you go people, life goes on. I hope my decision is to better my life, and everybody around me. Do pray that everything will work out for me there. Happy I'll be updating ezooone@seweng as usual, keeping in touch with my friends out here... Winking

The Part of You That No One Sees

You are compassionate, caring, and soothing.
You like other people to depend on you...
In fact, you don't feel right unless you are helping someone out.

Underneath it all, you feel the burden of everyone's problems.
Without your guidance, you fear that many people's worlds would fall apart.
